Dandi March
Gandhi along with 78 male satyagrahis set on foot on march 12 1930 to the coastal village of dandi which was some 240 miles away from Sabarmati. The journey last for 23 days. On April 6, 1930 Gandhi picked a lump of mud and salt.
On reaching the seashore he said, “God be thanked for what may be termed the happy ending of the first stage in this, for me at least, the final struggle of freedom. I cannot withhold my compliments from the government for the policy of complete non interference adopted by them throughout the march ....” -
